Choco is our big red dog. He is purebred Bernese Mountain dog, but was born red instead of black. He has a really sweet temperament and is a big, lovable boy.
We recently found out that the Appenzeller is also sometimes red, so we believe that this red gene came down through the past and pops up occasionally. We have heard of a couple of other "red" Bernese in the US and have seen one in England, as well.
Choco has sired puppies for us and all of his offspring have been 'normal' colored black, rust and white Bernese Mountain Dogs.
