MSM - 3800 mg. of Methyl Sulfonyl Methane (MSM), which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects when taken. It is also a source of an extremely important mineral, sulfer, which is deficient in the American Diet.
Glucosamine - 2296 mg., which is one of the substances that attract and hold water in the joint. Glucosamine holds many times its weight in water and lubricates, nourishes and contributes to the function of cartilage. The water acts as a shock absorber and Glucosamine has been shown to assist in cartilage regeneration.
Chondroitin - 383 mg., also called the water magnet due to its hydophilic properties. Chondroitin helps to nourish and lubricate the joints and also helps to stimulate the cells that make up the netting of tissue that the joint contains.
Hyaluronic Acid - 107 mg. (HA) is a substance actually found in the joint fluid, but is lost as you age. This substance and its benefits were discovered in Japan when it was found that people in a certain village there lived to be in their 90s and 100s due to a diet extremely rich in Hyaluronic Acid.
Hyaluronic acid is a component of synovial fluid, and is found in the synovia of joints, and in subcutaneous tissue where it functions as a cementing agent. Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan with anti-inflammatory and anti-edema properties. In osteoarthritis, changes occur in the hyaluronic acid found in cartilage leading to degradation of the cartilage.
