There has been so much discussion lately about dog food ingredients and the safety of what actually goes into commercial dog food, that it can be scary deciding on what to feed your pets. We always recommend adding raw or lightly steamed vegetables (but not from the nightshade family - no potatoes, onions, eggplant, etc.), so never throw out leftover veggies - give them to your dog - but not directly from the table, of course. Put them in a baggie and serve them over your dog's next scheduled meal. We also recommend adding rice, oatmeal, raw or lightly cooked meat or fish, eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, and any of the foods contained in one of the 'all natural' or 'raw food diets'.
